Tampines Regional Library was officially opened on 3 December 1994 by Dr Aline Wong, Senior Minister of State for Education and Health. The library was upgraded in 1998, with new and improved services and facilities. The Chinese Library Services was inaugurated on 2 May 1998, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Libraries of Beijing and Shanghai. Tampines Regional Library was the first regional library under the National Library Board network of libraries. Situated close to the Tampines MRT station and bus interchange, the library covers a floor area of 6,208 square metres.
